Dear D2C Family,
As 2018 comes to a close, we at D2C feel extremely grateful for the achievements and growth that we have experienced over the past year. Some of these accomplishments include:
- Expansion of the After School Tutoring Program
- Initiation of the D2C Education Access Project in partnership with a community school
- Development and launch of the Stand Up Paddleboard Youth Livelihood Program
- Successful summer camp for 100 deserving Haitian children
- A new In-Country leadership team
- Physical, emotional and intellectual growth of our amazing Family Home children!
The momentum from this incredible year is still going and as we are getting ready for an even busier 2019, we are calling on our incredible network of supporters and volunteers to consider how they can help support D2C’s mission so that we can continue making measurable impact for children and families in Haiti.
Each year, individual donors help D2C provide orphaned and vulnerable children in Haiti with essential services such as clean water, food and shelter. Moreover, individual donations help us provide critical educational opportunities for boys and girls seeking a better life for themselves.
Volunteers who participate our Seva community service trips are invaluable for the hands on work they provide to our programs. Whether helping to build classrooms, teaching professional skills to young entrepreneurs, or leading activities during our annual summer camp, their support keeps our projects running and in-turn provide a life-changing experience.
Your donation will help D2C is various ways, including:
Free School Meal for Students
No child should have to choose between hunger and an education. Help keep students’ minds and bellies full by donating towards our free meal program at the After School Program.
Clean Water at Family Home
Help ensure our orphaned and abandoned children have regular access to clean water for drinking and washing at the Family Hone.
Tuition Support for Girl Students
The average girl in Haiti only attends school until the age of 7 years. Help remove a barrier keeping young Haitian girls from pursuing their education.
Professional Development for Youth Practitioners
Breaking the cycle of poverty comes from empowering youth with professional skill sets. Help support D2C youth practitioners pursue gainful employment, social enterprise and financial independence.
Earthquake and Hurricane Proof Classrooms
Widespread poverty prevents schools in Haiti from building classrooms that remain standing during an earthquake or hurricane. Help keep students and teaching staff safe by supporting classroom reconstruction.
We want to thank all our supporters for making D2C a success and for believing in our mission. All children, regardless of where they are born, the color of their skin or the language they speak deserve the opportunity to learn, play, feel loved and have security. The future of Haiti can be a bright one if we help give these children and youth the chance to make it so.
Thank you very much and Happy New Years from D2C!
